Description:

This class will be a chance to chat, listen, and experience unsheltered speaking with conversation prompts and structures provided session by session to give directed and targeted practice while having free-form conversation. Every conversation will be expertly directed by the group leader, Andreas, to allow for maximum speaking time for each participant who wishes to speak as well as direction to ensure everyone is following along. The prompts can vary from books we are reading at the moment to our favorite things to current events (no fighting). The goal is to get together to converse in structured time to improve fluency and foster community Latine and in only 30 minutes for those with busier schedules!

All materials will be provided by the instructor during classes. This course assumes prior knowledge of Latin roughly equivalent to two years of college Latin as well as previous Latin speaking experience. Both classical and ecclesiastical pronunciations are welcome. Sessions will take place via Zoom and are capped at 6 participants to ensure a personalized learning environment.

This course is repeatable, so participants who were in the previous Sermunculi course can take it again.

8 30-minute sessions over 8 weeks

Sundays, 8:00a - 8:30a EST*

*The course will observe US time. Major US federal holidays are observed. If a participant misses a session due to their observance of a religious holiday, they can arrange a separate session with the instructor.
