This course will be primarily taught in modern English and will serve as an introduction to the poem Beowulf. We will, of course, read the poem and cover in broad strokes topics such as artistic elements, the meter, the scholarship, and more. No prior experience in Old English is required. Foreknowledge of Old English grammar will be helpful, but we will work with you either way!

Sessions take place via Zoom and are capped at 9 participants to ensure a personalized learning environment.
