Bridging the Gap with Appleton & Jones' "Pons Tironum" (Novice-Intermediate)

$150.00

Instructor:

Holly "Annula" Russo

Description:

In this 6 session course, we will read & discuss Appleton & Jones' Pons Tironum. This Direct Method textbook from the early 1900s was a precursor to books like Oerberg's Lingua Latina and was designed for students in their second year of learning Latin. It is narrated from the first-person point of view of a Roman schoolboy in a sequence of charming and fun vignettes. This course is perfect for those who have already worked their way through much of Oerberg's Lingua Latina per se Illustrata and who are looking for more reading/speaking practice with common and useful features of Latin grammar such as indirect discourse, sequence of tenses, various uses of the subjunctive, etc.

Sessions will take place via Zoom and are capped at 8 participants to ensure a personalized learning environment.
