Holly “Annula” Russo
Salve! I'm Holly Russo. My Latin name is Annula, a Latinization of my middle name, Anita. My interest in Latin began as an undergraduate student at Assumption College, where I intended to merely satisfy a foreign language requirement on my way to earning a degree in history. Four years later, I graduated with a double major in history and Classics. I began my career teaching Latin shortly thereafter at a charter school in Worcester, Massachusetts. In 2014, while pursuing a master’s degree in Latin and Classical Humanities at UMass Boston, I attended my first Latin immersion event, the Conventiculum Bostoniense, where I met my husband Cori. The following summer, I participated in my first SALVI event, the Rusticatio Veteranorum. I have since returned to many SALVI events both as the curatrix and as a member of the teaching staff. In 2015 I was hired at East Boston High School, where I now teach Latin, World History, and Sheltered English Immersion History to ESL students.
