In this course, we will be reading bite-sized selections of ancient Greek that are meant to be finished in a single class hour. The course will be a mixed-level reading group where folks from all levels will be encouraged to come, read, and learn from others of various levels. No one in the room is the expert alone as we will all learn from each others' experience with the text, language, and context of the reading. The goal of this course is to enjoy reading Greek from various authors of various times. Special note will be paid to particularly useful bits of ancient Greek that can be integrated into one's daily speech. Participants can enter having very little spoken Greek background if they are intent on listening and reading. All classes will be conducted in ancient Greek. There is no expectation of preparation for each class and all homework, if assigned, will be optional for the course. All materials will be provided by the instructor.

Sessions will take place via Zoom and are capped at 8 participants to ensure a personalized learning environment.

Schedule:

8 1-hour sessions over 8 weeks

Sundays, 3:30p - 4:30p EST*

Major US federal holidays are observed. If a participant misses a session due to their observance of a religious holiday, they can arrange a separate session with the instructor.

Classes require a minimum number of participants to run although they may run with fewer participants, at the instructor’s discretion.
