Claire “Clara” Mieher

Podcast Co-host and Instructor

Salve/χαῖρε! I’m Claire (Clara/Κλάρα). I graduated from Tufts University with a BA in Greek & Latin, and received my MA in 2021 from the University of Southern California, where I am a Ph.D. student in Classics. This upcoming year, I will be taking a hiatus from my program to spend a fellowship year in Rome.

I began speaking Latin in 2016, when I attended Paideia’s Living Latin in Rome Program. Since then, I have enjoyed incorporating active Latin (and more recently, Greek), into my teaching and learning. Within this community I have found many wonderful, life-long friends (including Andrew and Ilse!), for which I am incredibly grateful. I have taught both languages since 2018 in a variety of settings: through USC’s Neighborhood Academic Intiative, Paideia’s Living Greek in Greece High School Program, and private tutoring. I particularly enjoy composing in both languages, mostly in prose but occassionally in poetry as well.

When I am not studying or teaching, I enjoy spending time outdoors hiking and fishing in Montana, where I currently live with my boyfriend. I also enjoy baking, crocheting, reading, and spending time with my two green tree frogs.
