Loculi atque Loquelae (Any level)

$200.00

Instructor:

Michael “Meletus” Sweet

Description:

Looking for a chance to chat about something in Latin? This mixed-level Latin-speaking group will focus on discussing a different location that was part of, or influenced by, the ancient and medieval Mediterranean world each week. Lessons will be led by Meletus using images, maps, and short selections from Latin texts from all times in order to encourage free conversation, give all participants an opportunity to speak, and excite student interest in a wide variety of places outside of the usual "big tourist attractions" that most people are familiar with. Of particular interest will be little places (loculi) outside of Rome and Athens. NB: This is a mixed-level Latin-speaking group but students are still expected to have a basic understanding of Latin grammar, equivalent to 1-2 years of college language courses and some facility to greet and ask basic questions of their fellow students.

Sessions will take place via Zoom and are capped at 6 participants to ensure a personalized learning environment.
